Summer in Yellowstone brings good weather and millions of tourists to view wildlife and the well known geothermal features of the park such as geysers and the Prismatic Spring. Herds of bison which had moved to other areas of the park have since returned to Lamar Valley and their spring calves also known as “red dogs” are growing. It is not uncommon to see wolves circling the herds in search of an opportunistic moment to feed on the calves. Elk, bighorn sheep and coyotes are also seen in abundance.
